Galvestongers are gearing up for an epic weekend of family activities that includes picnics, music, shopping, family-friendly activities and more.
Family-friendly Activities are expected to take center stage for the holiday weekend as they celebrate the start of the school year with activities such as a picnicking trip, family picnicker events and a family cooking competition.
“We’re hoping to see many families out and about, and have fun in a lot of different ways,” said Galvesto County Judge Gary L. Pernell Jr. of the annual family picnic, which is held at a local community center.
L.J. Perenn, president of the Galvestonic Chamber of Commerce, said the event provides a safe place for families to meet each other, shop, play games and have a good time.
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our family event is right here,” he said.
“It’s like a family event in Texas, where you can sit down and have your family, friends and neighbors around.”
The Galvestonian Chamber of Chambercraft is hosting a Family Picnic on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2017.
